Weekend

Hello everyone!  I hope you all had a great weekend.

Ours was full of celebration as my daughter graduated from fifth grade.

Right after the ceremony on Thursday our generous friend invited the whole class for lunch at her restaurant, Cafe Frida at the Upper West Side. 

And Saturday other parents threw a huge graduation party, again for the whole class and their families.

A bounce castle for the kids... The younger siblings enjoyed this so much!

A huge cake that weighted at least 25 pounds.  It was delicious!

Oh, and this is me :)

We all had so much fan and are grateful for this great community we have.  So sad to see the kids split apart as they go to different schools but we have such a wonderful group, both of kids and parents that I'm sure we'll keep in touch and still do things together in the up coming years.

Graduation

Yesterday my daughter graduated from fifth grade.  She looked so pretty and it was such an emotional moment for all of us.  Where did time go all this years!  It feels like she was going to kindergarten just a few months ago when I dropped her off at her first day of school and I cried. Yes, I did cry on her first day of school.  My baby was going to a 'real school'.

And now she's going to middle school!

I don't know if this is the kind of post you would like to read but it's a special moment for us and I wanted to share my feelings with you...

A terrace in the city

Last week I was invited to a cocktail party at a friends house.  There were lots of yummy snacks and refreshing drinks.  She had the party indoors and also outdoors.  She is lucky enough to have a lovely terrace in her NYC apartment.  Oh my, would I like to have a home with a terrace? No, I would LOVE to!!!!  It doesn't have to be big, just a little space to put a small table with chairs or a sofa would be just perfect.... Ahh, let's dream!

What would I do if I had a terrace?  I would get up early on the weekends, prepare a yummy breakfast and would have my family morning weekends outdoors!  I would do that and so much more!  For now, let's keep dreaming on it, some day! :)

Skin Care

When I was a teenager I loved getting a sun tan.  I did not know about SPF.  In fact the lower the number the better for me because it meant that I would get a nice gold tan on my face.  Truth is after a day on the beach my skin would look like a cooked lobster and my legs never got that gold tan.

Fortunately that craziness quickly disappeared. I mean, what was I thinking!  And in my early twenties I got really conscious about skin care.  Today I do not go out without SPF no matter what day of the year is or if it's raining or shining.   Skin care is an investment not a luxury.  Here are my favorite products I use day after day.

Enfuselle from Shaklee is one of my favorite products.  I have a very sensitive skin and since all of their ingredients are pure and natural they work wonders on me.

Step 1.  Cleanse (ALWAYS)

First I clean my face in the shower.  Morning and night.  I just can not go to bed with my make up on.  I have done this since I starting wearing make up and today I can not finish my day without doing it, no matter how late it is I have to wash my make up off.  Am I crazy about this?

This cleanser is great because is creamy and doesn't dry my skin.

Step 2.  Eye Cream

Step 3.  Moisturizer

This moisturizer has SPF 15 which is just fine for me during the winter.



However during the summer time I need something a little longer and now I've been using Aveeno Smart Essentials with SPF 30 and love it!

And for the night this one or this Aveeno Night time.

Step 4.  Neck

Since I was very young I would spread my moisturizer to my neck as well.  But I've recently discover this amazing product that I'm in love with.

When I told my regimen to my friend she said she would be tired on step 2, ha! It really isn't that complicated, once you get used to it it all comes naturally and very easily.

Organizing with baskets

Hello everyone!  Hope you all had a wonderful weekend!

I'm trying to do a little organizing here and there at my home.  I find that a great way to get organized and to keep things nice looking are to corral items in baskets.  There are so many options that it becomes hard to decide!  Here are some beautiful baskets for us to choose.

I am totally in love with Louis style chairs.  They are so classy and give that sort of sophistication to any space.  I desperately want one for my office!

I secretly stop by thrift stores once in a while just in case I find one.  It would probably be in sad shape, but would reupholster it and give a nice coat of paint.  I've already planned it all, ha!

Linen Closet

Hello everyone!  Hope you all are having a great week!

The weather is getting hotter and we don't need as much blankets anymore, just a set of soft sheets and a nice bright duvet cover!  The questions is how do we store those extra blankets?!  For the big and thick ones I place them in a Space Bags.  I love them, they are incredibly efficient and save a lot of space.
It doesn't hurt to have a linen closet specially designed for those items, right?  Since closets are not in abundance in NY apartments my sheets and towels share home with my clothes :)

Let's see what it would be like to have a closet specially dedicated to my linen...
