How I organize my necklaces…

I have a confession to make… I LOVE necklaces. And a second confession: I have way too many, really. After looking many ways how to organize them, almost by accident I found something that works perfectly.  My daughter's old coat rack!
She got something like this a few years ago and she grew too big for it so when I had no idea what to do with it… a-ha moment!!

So I went from something like this…

To something like this

I love big necklaces and I think they look so pretty when you display them. A simple tray or even and empty flower vase are great alternatives, don't you agree?

I also have a few that are more delicate and for those I found this beautiful frame-organizer at Homegoods

How about you, do you love necklaces?  How do you organize them? I would love to hear your ideas!

Organizing with baskets

Hello everyone!  Hope you all had a wonderful weekend!
I'm trying to do a little organizing here and there at my home.  I find that a great way to get organized and to keep things nice looking are to corral items in baskets.  There are so many options that it becomes hard to decide!  Here are some beautiful baskets for us to choose.

Linen Closet

Hello everyone!  Hope you all are having a great week!
The weather is getting hotter and we don't need as much blankets anymore, just a set of soft sheets and a nice bright duvet cover!  The questions is how do we store those extra blankets?!  For the big and thick ones I place them in a Space Bags.  I love them, they are incredibly efficient and save a lot of space.
It doesn't hurt to have a linen closet specially designed for those items, right?  Since closets are not in abundance in NY apartments my sheets and towels share home with my clothes :)

Let's see what it would be like to have a closet specially dedicated to my linen...

Now I have a question for you... How do you store out of season blankets?  Do you have a closet just for that?  Let us know by linking your blog in the comments section so we can visit you :)

How to pack {on your way back}

Hello everyone!  Please forgive me for the absence, I was away for a few days and didn't have the chance to post.
 We visited Washington DC for couple of days and let me tell you I LOVED it! It was my first time there and I hope there will be many more!

There are many articles out there about how to pack for your trip, and I love their tips. I usually start checking the weather of the place we're visiting, make a list of things we need, and plan one outfit per day.

When we travel we always carry two suitcases, one regular size for my husband and me and a small one for my daughter, like the ones you can carry on a plane.  So all our clothes go in the big one and hers in the small one.  She loves to pack her own suitcase.

On our way back we do it a little different.  Since most of our clothes are dirty we put it all together in the big suitcase and our clean clothes in the small one so that way unpacking is easy-easy.  Just open the big suitcase and put everything in the hamper and have it ready to wash.  Then I get the small one and put all our items back in the drawers.  This is always very little with some items we got on the trip and few other items like make up, jewelry, etc.  Shoes go in the big one with dirty clothes and just to play safe I put them individually in plastic bags.

well now i'm all wanting to travel.

If you carry only one suitcase, which is what I used to do before husband and daughter, you can put all your dirty clothes at the bottom then cover everything with a plastic bag or a shopping bag and then place your clean clothes on top.  Most of the suitcases have a division in between so that might make it easier.
Like this photo if you always unpack your suitcase when you stay in a hotel #travel #hotel #suitcase

And that's how I pack back home.  I wish I had taken some pictures but it didn't occur to me until later, when everything was back in its place :)

Hope you have a beautiful weekend!!

Pantry Makeover {Part II}

Hello!  Hope you all are having a great week so far!

I have finally finished my pantry project, and I couldn't be happier.  I think that every organizing project has to fit your  own needs and you have to go for what really works for you.  That way, it will be easier to maintain the system you've created.

So, as we remember I started here...

Then, I emptied the whole thing and found my containers

And this is how it looks now...

Seeing that empty container reminds me I need to get some elbow pasta!
See what I mean by knowing what we really need to buy :)

Here I placed items we don't use as frequently.  Although I do need to get the shakes box very often, this system allows me to put it back right after I finish to make my breakfast.

And at the very bottom we store our big water bottles plus a small basket for onions and potatoes

What do you think?  I would love to hear your thoughts and what systems you use to keep your pantry organized, please share with us!!
