Scour it Off..

I recently cooked a new recipe which needed heated milk, so I heated the milk.  The problem is that my pot got like this...

So... I used my little secret weapon...
Scour Off Heavy Duty Paste, this amazing paste is made out of natural ingredients that won't damage your pots and pans nor your hands and it will do wonders in your kitchen and other tough areas of your home (like bathtub).

So my poor little pot got back to life...

Pretty amazing right?  Best part, it took only few minutes to do this so I didn't need to scrub for hours :)

Happy Monday!

Tip: Make your bed every day before you go to work. Nothing worse than coming home tired and see that messy bedroom. Once you make your bed your whole bedroom will look nicer, trust me!

Tip: When vacuuming don't forget under the bed. If vacuum doesn't fit clean it with a swiffer with dry a cloth.

Tip: Use a lint roller on your duvet to remove dust, you'll be surprised at how much dust it accumulates!

The Magic of Baking Soda

Stainless steel appliances are so pretty.  I love the sleek, modern look they provide to a kitchen.  However, finger prints don't look as pretty on them, do they?
Here's when the magic of Baking Soda begins.  There are lots of good products out there that work just great, but a great tip at a fraction of the price is Baking Soda+Dish Soap.

What you need:
Baking Soda
Dish Soap
Sponge
Microfiber Cloth (or clean/dry paper towel)

1. Rinse the sponge making sure is clean and free of oil
2. Put a few drops of Dish Soap and sprinkle some baking soda
3. Wash your appliance with sponge. NEVER use the scrub side of the sponge, only the soft side
4. Rinse the sponge and take all the soap and baking soda off your appliance. You might need to repeat this process few times in order to get it all off
5. Dry with Microfiber cloth

Pretty cool, right?  There are hundreds of uses for Baking Soda, I love this little orange box!
How do you clean your appliances? Let us know.

Caring for your Jeans

We all love a nice pair of jeans and probably have our favorite one.  Well it is important how you take care of them.  A little extra care will make them last longer.

(Please read care label and follow their instructions if different than these)

Wash them with care:
workers rights, sandblasting, eco-friendly denim, sustainable denim, eco-friendly jeans, sustainable jeans, Clean Clothes Campaign, eco-fashion, sustainable fashion, green fashion, ethical fashion, sustainable style

1. Empty the pockets.  Nothing worse than wash your jeans and realize that you had something it could stain them.

2. Turn your jeans inside out.

3. Set the machine on "Delicate Cycle" or "Cold Water"

4. If your machine has a top door, run water first and add detergent to dissolve before you put your jeans in the machine. My favorite detergent is this one, which it tough enough to remove dirt yet gently with clothes.  And it's completely free of chemicals which is good for your skin too!

5. Take them out promptly to prevent them getting wrinkled.

6. Turn your jean right side out and air dry them.

7. If you want to put them in the dryer, set the dryer in the lowest temperature.  I personally put mine for only10 minutes or less just to get the excess of water and then I hang them to finish drying.

8. Never use bleach when washing your jeans.

9. Never mix light colors with your jeans.  As they tend to fade and will stain the rest of your clothes.

Store them with Care.  Fold or Hang?

A) Fold:
Folding your jeans is one of the best ways to store them. And if closet space is an issue then this becomes an even better solution.
Make sure you lay your jeans on a flat surface, fold them in half with zipper inside the fold, then fold them again in half or three depending on the size of your shelf or drawer.
Place them in shelf making sure they don't get too close from your light color pants, as they might stain your other pants/clothes.

B) Hang:
Even though hanging jeans might save space, this method might be a little tricky if  hung incorrectly. Lay your jean in a flat surface, fold them in half with zipper inside the fold, then hang them on a thick hanger in half making sure they lay evenly across the center of the hanger .  Never hang them on a wire hanger you get from dry cleaners as they are too thin and will cause creases in the legs.

Washing you Dishwasher

Dishwashers are so helpful these days, they do the tough work
while you can do other chores around the house.  They not just wash
the dishes for you but also help you to keep your countertops free
of clutter and dirt, you just load the dishes, utensils, etc and voila!

But have you thought of actually wash your dishwasher?  Just as
other appliances it needs to be cleaned once in a while.

Here's a simple guide so you can take care of it:

1. Unload all the dishes and leave it empty
2. Wipe the bottom, sides and inside door
3. Pour a cup of white vinegar on the bottom of your dishwasher
4. Run a full cycle

And that's it!  Now enjoy your clean, disinfected dishwasher!

Do you clean or wash your dishwasher regularly?  What's your method?
Let us know!

Best,
Marcela
