Hello...

This is what I would like to have today to celebrate
my {ever growing number} birthday!
So sorry for the lack of posting but it's been quite busy around here, which is great but haven't had time to write.  I need to organize my time better - That's a birthday resolution!!
I'll be back next week, for now have a beautiful weekend!!

Chop-Chop

A couple of months ago my daughter had a hair cut and she donated her hair to Locks of Love. You can read the story here.
She was very proud and I told her I would do the same soon.  So the time came and it was my turn.  On Sunday we were running errands and I asked her if she wanted to come with me to the hair salon.  And this is what happened.

I got to the salon with an absurd amount of hair...

My hairdresser said it would be better to make four pony tails instead of just one big one (yes, four!)

My daughter in the back taking pictures :)

Ahhh, nothing like a good hair massage...

Now, let's style it...

The guy got excited with so much hair to cut.  I had to stop him, otherwise I would've got a pixie style!

And this is how I look now with much less hair...

All this was packed and sent to Locks of Love.  I'm happy to know that it will help a child in need.

Hope you have a beautiful weekend!!

Weekend

Hello everyone!  I hope you all had a great weekend.
Ours was full of celebration as my daughter graduated from fifth grade.

Right after the ceremony on Thursday our generous friend invited the whole class for lunch at her restaurant, Cafe Frida at the Upper West Side.

And Saturday other parents threw a huge graduation party, again for the whole class and their families.

A bounce castle for the kids... The younger siblings enjoyed this so much!

A huge cake that weighted at least 25 pounds.  It was delicious!

Oh, and this is me :)

We all had so much fan and are grateful for this great community we have.  So sad to see the kids split apart as they go to different schools but we have such a wonderful group, both of kids and parents that I'm sure we'll keep in touch and still do things together in the up coming years.

Hope you have a great week!

Thanks for reading!

Graduation

Yesterday my daughter graduated from fifth grade.  She looked so pretty and it was such an emotional moment for all of us.  Where did time go all this years!  It feels like she was going to kindergarten just a few months ago when I dropped her off at her first day of school and I cried. Yes, I did cry on her first day of school.  My baby was going to a 'real school'.

And now she's going to middle school!

I don't know if this is the kind of post you would like to read but it's a special moment for us and I wanted to share my feelings with you...

Thanks for reading and have a beautiful weekend!

Nacho

For as long as I can remember, my daughter has been asking for a dog and for as long as I can remember my answer has always been no.
My poor little girl even wrote a poem about it when she was three years-old:
"When will I be old enough
to have a pet I like!"

Every time I thought of having a dog I would only see the dark side:
It's too much work
I don't want to walk him
I don't want fur on much couch
I don't want him to pee or poop on the floor
I don't want the smell of a dog in my apt
etc, etc, etc

But my husband and daughter decided they would get a dog weather I liked it or not.
And one Saturday morning they went out to pick up Nacho.

I tried to stay away of the dog responsibility for the first couple of days and pretend I didn't care, but I could not resist any more.  Nacho was just too cute and funny and sweet!  I caught myself coming home one evening and screaming "where's my baby, where's my baby!!!" and that was it.
My husband and daughter looked at each other and could not control their laugh.

Here walking on the park and still trying to decide how to style his outfit :)

I am really SO happy that we got this cute little guy. It has given us laughter, joy, happiness.  I will not lie to you that it is a lot of work, and I don't love to clean after him while we're potty training and that I have to mop our floors pretty much every other day BUT the joy he gives us is totally worth it!

Do you have a pet?  Have ever consider getting one?

Mustache

Hello everyone!  Hope you all are having a nice week so far!  It has been a crazy week for me, with work and holidays approaching faster than ever it's been hard to keep up!  We also have a December birthday at home and for those of you have have a family member turning years during this month will know what I'm talking about, crazy!!  My daughter is turning 10 tomorrow and we had a little gathering for her last Friday.  It was really cute to see the girls play, talk and laugh!  Here are some pictures of her party.

She wanted to have a Mustache theme, I didn't realize it was all over but no time to order on Etsy so I cut out some myself...

I got a mustache stamp and ink and did the napkins, put and adhesive letter on a paper cup to seat the girls and tied the utensils with matching ribbon...

I thought that if I had the girls seated for dinner things would't get too crazy... I'm not sure if it worked :)

The 'table runner' is actually gift wrapping paper from Paper Presentation

We also had a little snack table with cookies, cheese, chips and juice...

I think it turned out really nice and the girls had lots of fun!!

Now let's focus back on Christmas!

I'm back!

When I said on my last post I would take the day off because it was my birthday I certainly didn't mean two whole months off!!
green suitcase
It was a great Summer, my parents visited us and they stayed with us for an entire month and we had a blast!  They traveled more than 13 hours to see me and my family so it had to be worth the time :)
I want to thank to all of you who kept checking my blog and send an email to check in.  I have been thinking a lot about how I should keep up with blogging posts and I want you to know that I will make all efforts to keep writing on a regular basis, probably not every day but at least two to three times a week.  I have lots of new ideas that I will share with you, I'm excited!
In the meanwhile I hope you all are doing well and my prayers are for those of you who are on the East Coast and were affected by Sandy this week.  My family and I were lucky enough and still have power/water/heat and I thank God for that!
