Five Books {I love}

Happy Friday everyone!

I love reading a good book and over the years I've read many different kinds of subjects and authors.
From The House of the Spirits by Isabel Allende to Fifty Shades of Grey.  Yes I did read those too and loved them!!

I wanted to put on a list my favorite five books I've read and would recommend.  So here we go!

1. Biography
Paula by Isabel Allende is far my favorite book I have ever read.  It is an autobiography.  When her daughter got sick and fell into a coma she wrote for her.  Isabel Allende goes back to her childhood and writes anecdotes about her youth.  She tells us about her daughter's situation and how she handled her death.  I found myself laughing like crazy on one page and crying like a kid on the next page.  I could feel her pain, smell the flowers she described and and hear the silence of her frustration.
Paula: A Memoir

2. Decor
I'm sure each and every one of you have Domino at home.  The pages are full of beautiful spaces and make me dream of my ideal home.  So many ideas so little time and no home I own!
Domino: The Book of Decorating: A Room-by-Room Guide to Creating a Home That Makes You Happy

3. Organizing
It's all too much from Peter Walsh.  He takes you to the bottom of the problem, why people start accumulating things until they are barred under their own stuff .  I really enjoyed this book, it's very easy to read with easy to follow tips.
It's All Too Much: An Easy Plan for Living a Richer Life with Less Stuff

4. Business
The e-myth Revisited.  Oh my, I wish I read this book when I first started my business, so many things  would've been so different!  I love how Michael Gerber takes you step by step on how to properly build your business.  Some of the tips are very obvious but just because of that you never thought of it before!  And then I go, really?  I'm still reading this book and enjoying every page :)
The E-Myth Revisited: Why Most Small Businesses Don't Work and What to Do about It

5. Novels
The house of the spirits, again from Isabel Allende.  I first saw the movie many years ago and then read the book, just the opposite as most people do.  I have to say that this is another example of the saying the books are always better than the movie.  And I don't think the reason is because the movie is badly made or anything like that but I believe that each one of us make our own movie in our head.  We picture characters on a certain way and then they are on the screen and is not what we imagined.  Which is not necessarily bad but just different!

Thanks for reading and enjoy your weekend!

Fashion meets home {Coral}

I love coral, it's not orange, it's not pink, it's not exactly a mix of both.  It reminds me a yummy sorbet on a hot summer day.  It is a great color on clothes but it also looks great in our homes!  Don't you think?

Scarves

Hello everyone!  Hope you all had a great weekend!
After a few days of nice warm weather here in NYC it suddenly got a little chilly and it rained all day on Sunday.  I did not expect that!  I got spoiled so yesterday I felt cold.
I think that a great way to get over this chilly without getting bulky is a nice scarf.  I love scarves!  They can really make an outfit.  Here are some beautiful scarves to have handy if the weather goes down again :)

Love the colors on this one...

Baking Soda {not for baking}

Happy Friday!
One of my favorite cleaning products is baking soda you can practically clean everything around your home with this little box.  But what about as a beauty product?  Baking soda is so versatile that serves as a great natural and safe product to put on our skin too!

5 ways to use baking soda as a beauty product:

Facial and Body Scrub
This is a great natural way to scrub your face and body.  Mix one part of water with three parts of baking soda and apply on your skin avoiding eye area.  Perfect for that glow we all like!

Teeth
Damp your toothbrush, deep it in baking soda and brush your teeth!  It's perfect to work on coffee stains once in a while.  I must confess it doesn't taste great but it's worth it. I would't do it daily though as it might be to abrasive on your teeth.

Deodorant
You can really apply it directly on your skin and replace your deodorant.  It naturally absorbs odors instead of covering them.

Hand cleaner
Mix three parts of baking soda and one part of water to create a paste and scrub your hands. You can add some essential oil for a nice scent. It will leave your hands soft as baby skin!

Bath soak
Add half cup of baking soda to your bath. It neutralizes acids on your skin and helps wash away oil.  Your skin will be silky smooth!

Feliz dia Mama

Mother's day is coming up this Sunday and I have always enjoyed this day.  Even before I became a mom I already loved to celebrate it with my mom.  Now she's far away in South America but I still celebrate her and send her a present every year.

Here's what I'd like to give my mom this time... or get it myself :)
