Cleaning common mistakes

Hello everyone! Hope you all had a lovely Labor Day weekend!

Working at different apartments and with so many clients I always find a few mistakes people tend to make.  Please note this is not a criticism but instead looking things from a different point of view and trying to help you avoid them. So here we go!

Mistake #1:  I don’t need a cleaning service
Nothing beats the feeling of coming home to a clean house.  Even better if someone else did it for you!  If you ever need some help please don't hesitate to call us!

Mistake #2: I only have hardwood floor so I don’t need a vacuum
A vacuum will pick up all dust from floors, corner, crevices that a broom can’t get.  Make sure a vacuum has Hepa filter (high efficiency particulate air) and/or it’s sealed.  A great option is Miele and Dyson.  A little pricey, but worth every single penny!

Mistake #3:  If it looks clean it is clean
There are places and surfaces that look clean, however they carry tons of germs.  For example:  sponges, handles and door knobs, faucets, light switches, etc.  They also need to be clean and disinfected.

Mistake #4:  The stronger the products, the better
Most people think they need to use bleach and strong cleansers in order to do the tough work.  There are a huge variety of natural options to kill germs and not your lungs. As a matter of fact vinegar and baking soda can go a long way. My favorite ones are from Shaklee.

Mistake #5: Forget about common appliances such as dishwasher, washer machine, etc
We tend to forget about this appliances. Actually, when people think of cleaning appliances first thing to come to our mind is the refrigerator, microwave and may inside the oven but  ave you ever clean inside your dishwasher or washing machine?  These are very important items and to cleaned as well!  You can read a little tutorial here.

Mistake #6: Using liquid dish soap on your dishwasher
Yes, they both clean dishes, but you should never use liquid dish soap in your dishwasher. Ever.  Both detergents are made with different ingredients and the one to hand wash dishes makes a foam. So if you put it in the dishwasher with the power of water will make a lot of foam (and I mean A LOT) making it very hard to clean up. You will have to rinse the machine more than a few times.

Now tell me, do you do some of these?  I have to say I  play guilty about washing my dishwasher. I have to remind myself about it all the time :)

Thanks for reading!

Marcela
